I am a lazy photographer, traveller and writer; I have teenage boys and I am a widowed single mum! I never make it to sunrise. By sunset my boys need tea and taxi duties and all the time in between is spent on crowd management. Unless I go out on my own for a rare, indulgent day of photography and exploring, my images and adventures are all captured on the run. My kids demand 5 pence for each photograph they are made to wait for and my days out are usually planned with family compatibility in mind. I can tell you this really focusses the mind. So a lot of my images are quick impressions, taken on my little point and shoot camera. No time to compose, use filters or think about anything. I would love the luxury to spend three hours in one location watching the light change, waiting for the perfect moment and exploring intimate corners. However, at the moment that isn’t my life.
Meandering Wild is my little escape from this reality. A chance to share my love for anything outdoors and to help you explore. Through my attempts at story writing I will share some of the amazing places we visit. We love to rock pool, find high points, snorkel, explore ruins, scuba dive, geocache and just generally be outside adventuring. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to hear one of my boys declare ‘look at that beautiful sky’. The natural world and travel are two of my great loves and they combine beautifully.
I have also found that photography is the perfect excuse to explore landscapes, discover new places and also learn who I am. I have been taught my developing photography skills by some amazing and patient photographers and I now hope to share some of my learning.
A series of mini photography guides will be available for download later in 2018 and will be shared as they are published in my newsletter.
If you see any images on Facebook, Instagram or in my blogs that you would like as prints, please get in touch. If you think that we could work together it would be great to hear from you.
