New Forest Autumn Sunrise
Leaving the New Forest Youth Hostel and driving in the semi darkness over the moorland of the New Forest the early autumn mist was swirling. Thick mist in places, just the last of the stars visible in the glassy blue sky above in others. The cloud was inversion hanging in the valleys as the emerging sun light brought warmth to the day and the slow evaporation of the mist.
As the mist started to thin Bratley View was standing high above the valley towards Stoney Cross. The roar of the A31 running alongside as the morning rush hour built was the only link to the normality of the day. Watching the sun rise, throwing light over the golden bracken and reflecting off the mist, work was a long way from my mind.
