Trekking in the high Atlas Mountains above Imlil in Morocco we stopped for mint tea at a small teahouse run by a local Berber farmer.
Orange juice, freshly squeezed and mint tea were served before we noticed his collection of fossils and stones.
From beyond the valley the fossils and geodes (rocks that contains amazing crystals) are easy to find. Some of the best specimens of fossils seen in Europe originate from Morocco.
The Sahara Desert beyond Marrakech was once a large ocean and is the perfect place for palaeontologists with new finds still being made.
He was was proud to show us his small collection with perfectly preserved creatures from the past. Stunning trilobites and orthoceras and geodes with beautiful colours and crystal structures.
